Rotterdam-based singer-songwriter McCleery was born deaf, only attaining hearing at the age of five. Yet from such difficult start in life, he's now blossomed into a mercurial force delivering unique music that mixes an existential worldview with melancholy atmosphere, exquisite melody and forward-thinking production values. Mixing jazzy flourishes with sombre reflections and avant tinges with tasteful songwriting, 'Pagdes' maps out a territory wherein Flying Lotus sashay with Radiohead as the spectre of John Martyn haunts the atmosphere, and it's a compelling headspace to behold.
