Whether this new single from CoA-A actually signals an early end for emergent label Nduja remains to be seen, but here's hoping for the sake of deep techno it isn't. There's a clear sonic intention from the artist also known as Mammo which places this strain of techno in the vintage 90s Artificial Intelligence era, where the drum machines spool out in hypnotic, fractured formations and the synths take on an aqueous, dubby form. Lost down rabbit warrens of resampling and spliffed-out ambience, this is heady gear for those who prefer techno as an expressive palette of ideas rather than an exercise in formulaic functionality.
