"Spirits Of Life", by Jacek Sienkiewicz, is yet another exercise in combining minimal grooves with maximal sounds. And it works. A solid mid-tempo rhythm carries what seems to be a thousand layers of sound. Meaty, bouncing bass stabs intertwine with washes of synthetic melodies, while percussion drops and unidentified samples swirl around in this bio-robotic monster of a tune. "Green River" takes Jacek's minimal obsession into cold outer space, where you can hear the planets spin and the only hope seems to be coming from a dying communication device. Cold, stark and haunting, this is either the work of a madman or truly the future now!
