By now, we should all know exactly what to expect from Italian techno veteran Donato Dozzy, namely robust, forthright cuts that combine intoxicating and industrial aural textures with impeccable sound design. 124, his latest EP for Tresor, continues in a similar vein. After opening with some slipped tribal textures - the echoing marimba melodies, delay-laden metallic clanks, unsettling atmospherics and sub-heavy grooves of 'Messy Kafka World' - Dozzy flits between buzzing, drum-dominated minimalism ('Synthi Chase'), loopy late-night hypnotism ('Wooden Dolls Don't Cry', where he wrests maximum dancefloor impact from a small selection of sonic elements) and skewed techno psychedelia (the decidedly trippy 'Cassiopeia 36').
