Shawn O'Sullivan has been a part of the extended L.I.E.S family for some time, and has already delivered two fine EPs for Ron Morelli's label under the Vapauteen guise. Even so, this is his first outing under the alias for three years. Opener "Fully Automated" is as robust and hard-wired as you'd expect, with panicked stabs and aggressive acid lines riding bowel-bothering kick-drums and muscular cymbal patterns. "16 Psyche (Life In Debtor's Prison)" is similarly intense, if a little more metallic and industrial in tone, while "One Face" sounds like industrial-strength acid techno that's been recorded in an oversized cement mixer. If Surgeon made records for L.I.E.S, they'd probably sound like this.
