** REPRESS ** The curiously named Lobster Theremin label comes from some of the minds behind London's excellent Streets Of Beige club night, and arrives with a mission statement to provide a platform "for new and emerging international artists of a tougher aural leaning". The label's first release provides the debut of Palms Trax, a Berlin-based producer and sometime Streets Of Beige DJ. Entitled Equation, the record provides a bold debut for label and producer; sharing the same misty eyed, '80s-influenced approach to house music as Max D and the Future Times crew, the three original tracks here are amongst some of the finest house music released this year, with the angular strings and thick arpeggio of the title track an undisputed standout. WT Records boss Willie Burns provides the release's only remix, in which he turns in a VHS-saturated take on "Late Jam" which is another essential for Burnett completists. Essential!
