Despite attempts to retain his anonymity, the true identity of the "well-known producer" behind the Levantis project is hardly hidden (if you're still unaware, Google is your friend). Why this particular producer felt the need for an alternative alias is open for debate, because there are aspects of Romantic Psychology Vol. 1, the Levantis debut album, that feel similar in ethos, texture and execution to his more familiar pseudonym. In some ways, it's irrelevant, of course. Judged on its' own merits, this is a fine set that offers an instinctive, hugely atmospheric blend of stripped-back ambience, dubbed-out sound design, curious ecclesiastical influences, quiet melodies and glitchy, scratchy electronica.
