"I nawet niechętnie mnie się na ląd wysiadało, bo przez dni dwadzieścia człowiek między niebem i wodą, niczego nie pamiętny, w powietrzu skąpany, w fali roztopiony i wiatrem przewiany" Witold Gombrowicz
Yet another thrilling adventure lead by Transatlantyk, a label who
specialises in discerning journeys into dancefloors of the world.
This time it's SELVY at the helm, already known from brilliant EPs,
edits and remixes on LSR, The Very Polish Cut-Outs and Fata Morgana.
A young musical prodigy hailing from Poznan, Poland is usually devoted
to the sound of 90's American house and tropical electronics in the vein
of Ryuichi Sakamoto, but this EP proves that his influences extend much
further.
'Catamaran' mixes organic percussion with blazing synths and melodies
from way out there, creating a slice of uplifting, Mediterranean
warmness.
'Calliope's Dream' is a rolling piece of aquatic house, fueled by a
wonderful bassline, bouncing rhythm of kalimbas in the back and playful
melodies.
The B Side takes us into darker territory, starting with 'Heban', a
track that mixes African elements with futuristic sounds and heavy, but
subtle drums.
'Lost Treasure' is the second most charming cut here, slowing down the
bpm's and upping the ethereal factor. Think new age electronics mixed
with drums similar to those in Codek's 'Tim Toum'.
All aboard!
