Steve Kotey's Ambassador's Reception imprint leads us into uncharted musical waters of The Black Sea with Sounds Of The Unheard From Romania Volume 1, an excellent compilation of material from Bucharest based collective Funk Nuggets. Operating out of two studios filled with all manner of hard wired analogue gear, the Funk Nugget collective have essentially created a scene on their own, which is documented musically across this nine track double LP release. Commencing with the Schifrin style soundtrack funk of Anahoretii's "Padurile Fosneau" you get everything from sitar heavy esoteric contributions from Steaua De Mare to more contemplative moments by Australopitecus Oltensis and Ing Coman to some full on Psyche Funk brilliance from the Concentration Band.
