Francesco Tristano first got snapped up by French label Infine after they fell for the pianist's meticulous skills and uniques classical dance music style. Deutsche Grammophon - founded in 1898 - continues its relatively recent flirtatious relationship with techno and classical music. On "Bachcage" we see Tristano combine the compositions of Bach and John Cage with reinterpretations from Lawrence and Moritz von Oswald. "One Note Development Nr.2" from MvO is dense and expertly engineered, while "Tantra Development", also from MvO, is a delicate, spacey piano piece. On the other side, Lawrence adds a mysterious vibe to "Tristano Introit" that spins hats and hand claps into gentle piano patterns, transforming mystery into gorgeous melody.
