"Katharsis" to w pełni autorska i solowa płyta Czesława Niemena, która premierę miała w 1976 roku. Jest to album koncepcyjny, traktujący o pułapkach rozwoju cywilizacji i ekspansji ludzkości w przestrzeń kosmiczną.
Do nagrań Czesław Niemen użył m.in. syntezatorów Minimoog i Synthi EMS oraz mellotronu. Wykorzystał również klawinet, gitarę oraz instrumenty perkusyjne i flety.
Autorem tekstów "Z listu do M." i "Epitafium" jest Czesław Niemen. Utwory "Planeta Ziemia", "Fatum" i "Katharsis" stanowiły ilustrację muzyczną sztuki Juliusza Słowackiego „Mindowe” w reżyserii Bernarda Forda Hanaoki.
