Even before the demise of the legendary Leeds bleep techno duo LFO - the band that effectively launched Warp Records after crashing the Top 10 with their eponymous debut single - one half of them, Gerrard Kevin Varley, had become G Man. From the mid-90s onwards he was hella busy, with 45 releases overall including three albums. As such, he has a vast back catalogue ripe and ready for pillage for retrospectives and that's what we get here with a second From The Vaults collection. What it serves up is seven cuts of techno that are all largely deep and dubby but range from zoned-out rollers to more textural and edgy deep space fare. The sound design throughout is what elevates this beautifully functional and atmospheric collection. Another must have bit of techno history from G.
