Question: How do you follow your last release that featured high profile remix treatments from Messrs Harvey Bassett and Kenneth Dixon Jnr? Los Angeles trio Pollyn have decided to answer that quandary by showing their own strength in the art of reinterpreting other's music on this rather party friendly burgundy twelve inch which features tracks from Liquid Liquid, Gorillaz, The Eurhythmics and Paul Simon. Sal P's ledgendary NYC troupe have their instantly recognisable "Optimo" given the Pollyn treatment, the trio succeed in stamping their own woozy psychedelic intentions while remaining faithful to what's a punk funk classic. A similar approach is taken to the Gorillaz track "DARE" which has Mr Albarn's high pitched tones taken on by singer Genevieve Artadi while keeping Shaun Ryder's participation intact - nice rhythmic switch up on this too. On the flip, "Take Me To Your Heart" by The Eurhythmics gets a punk funk cover from Pollyn that could feasibly find a comfortable home on a DFA B Side while little Paulie's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" gets a subtle rolling re-edit.
