Two years on from the release of his fine debut album, the electro-breaks and braindance flavoured Lucid Intervals on VOITRAX, Cyan85 delivers a more funk-fuelled, intergalactic electro sequel. Taking cues from a mixture of Drexciya's Gerald Donald, Egyptian Lover, DMX Krew and Jenson Interceptor, 0341 Gate offers an attractive mix of bouncy, club-ready beats, bustling bass, twisted riffs, heady spoken word snippets, alien-sounding melodies, throbbing synthesizer riffs, sharp Fairlight stabs and far-sighted, sci-fi seeped retro-futurist intent. All seven tracks are fully formed deep space visions - the kind of thing you'd expect to hear playing in a basement club on one of the Tyrell Corporation's space colonies in Blade Runner.
