From the opening bars (or thereabouts) of the intro track, through to the closing beats of the finale, there's plenty here that will appeal to fans of lo-fi electronic-folk oddities like Bibio. The samples, melodies and rhythmic sections have the same aged-to-perfection, worn-into-beauty aesthetic to them, although here elements of psychedelic and progressive rock are brought to the fore.
As things progress through the tracklist that vivid and immersive tapestry becomes, err, even more vivid and immersive, with later songs like Ritual occupying a place that's more informed by the trippy, Earthen rock 'n' roll of the late-1960s than contemporary electronic productions. Meanwhile, in other moments spacey, acid-inflections come to the fore, with 'Das Kloster Am Berg' arguably the most memorable case in point.
