Greek experimentalist Anatolian Weapons (real name Angelos Baltas) has stepped up his output over the last two years, delivering releases for the likes of Beats In Space, Marguerite Records and, most recently, Serandes. This 12", his first solo effort of 2021, marks his bow on Uomo di Carne and Infuso Giallo's carefully curated Kame House label. Intriguingly, some of the material is a little more up-tempo and rhythmic than his often abstract or meditative work. For proof, check gorgeous opener 'Mantili', where chopped-up female vocalisations and shimmering chords rise above a tribal drumbeat, and the more melody-rich but no less percussive 'To The Stars'. Also worth a look is flipside 'Let's Talk', a hypnotic and enveloping slow-house number full of epic chords, starry synths and gentle grooves.
