Scandinavian sword slingers DARFDHS (Varg and Michel Isorinne) make their way to Opal Tapes with some forbidding electronics that veer from austere noise to reduced ambient techno. Such tags are a disservice to the sound contained within, which is more about a pervasive feeling of barren landscapes and abandoned buildings where the echoes of the past saunter around the edges of the frame. It's evocative music executed with a keen ear for minimalism - at times it gets noisy, but even in wilder moments like "Dodsuppvackningar" the over-arching mood is a compellingly desolate one.
