West End Records is arguably more celebrated for its disco output, though to our ears the legendary NYC imprint put out better records during the boogie-era of the early 1980s. There are few better boogie jams in the label's catalogue than "Do It To The Music", the 1982 debut from Ron Dean Miller and Bert Reid's trio Raw Silk. If you've yet to get a copy, bag one of these reissue 12s ASAP. Like the original 1982 12", it features the sublime electrofunk original on the A-side - think sweet music, warm grooves, colourful synthesizer lines and jaunty sax lines - and the arguably even better Dub Mix on the flip. You can imagine Larry Levan going crazy for the dub the first time he heard it, and there's no greater praise than that.
