It's been a while since we last heard a combined release from Jack Jutson and Liam Butler as Pender Street Steppers. In fact, "Our Time" is the Vancouver duo's first single for two years. The A-side is all about "Falling", deep, warm and dreamy fusion of deep house nous, freestyle drums and late night synth-pop vocals that come accompanied by a deliciously spacey, delay-laden Dub mix. With its Boyd Jarvis style bassline, hazy chords, sunrise-ready melodies and unfussy beats, "Our Time" sounds like the pair's take on proto-house, albeit with another vocal and the kind of melodic flourishes more often heard in classier 80s synth-pop records. That, too, is backed with a Dub mix that's pleasingly out-there and experimental in tone.
