Earlier in the year Robag Wruhme broke his long streak of singles by popping up on Pampa with his first album in eight years, a melodic, atmospheric and eclectic affair that largely steered clear of the dancefloor. "Topinambur", his first EP since, is more club-focused. The A-side title track sets the tone, with Wruhme working a raw, moody and sleazy techno groove hard while cleverly playing around with the arrangement. Over on the flip, "Blymon" is a sweaty, mind-altering and basement-bothering loop jam with just the right amount of peaks and troughs, while "Cassave" is a brain-melting chunk of peak-time sleaziness rich in buzzing riffs and drum machine cowbells.
