Ed Upton has been in fine form this year, offering up two killer albums that explore the bittersweet heart of vintage sci-fi techno and Motor City style electro. "Computor Heart", his latest club-focused EP, is a little cheerier and giddier in outlook, charging between the 4/4, funk-fuelled electro futurism of the title track, the high-octane, Kraftwerk-on-acid flex of "Inigos Groove", the bustling, all-action squelch of 8-bit dancefloor rocker "Upgrade Path" and the metallic brilliance of "Infinity Drive", where chiming melodies dance atop wonky acid lines, thickset bass, punchy beats and ultra-dreamy chords. As the tried and tested cliche goes: this is all killer, no filler.
