Reissues don't come more essential than this, as Shackleton's classic "Death Is Not Final" conjures up the finest his early outings had to offer. In retrospect, the slower tempo of the original version set the tone for the crossover between techno and dubstep while the gamelan percussion and uneasy tones still sound peerless some six years on. Meanwhile the T++ remix on the flip further spells out this fertile time for genre cross-pollination as technoid intricacies meet with a fractured groove while rich swathes of dubbed out textures fill in the gaps for a dense and weighty trip to the outer limits.
