Mildlife has enjoyed a brilliant 2018, tickling our fancy with a cracking debut LP that effortlessly joined the dots between jazz-funk, dub, disco and Afro-funk flavours. To round off the year, their label has decided to sling out this EP of more club-focused reworks. Tornado Wallace steps up first with a wonderfully warm, tactile and groovy version of "The Magnificent Moon" packed with bustling breakbeats, Balearic piano flourished and loved-up chords, before Butter Sessions sort Sleep D brilliantly re-imagines "I'm Blau" as a deliciously percussive slab of pitched-down analogue dub techno. Arguably best of all, though, is Mount Liberation Unlimited's epic flipside take on "The Gloves Don't Take", which offers 11 mesmerizing minutes of chugging dub disco grooves, layered tribal percussion and lashings of spacey jazz-funk synths.
