Having debuted on Prime Numbers last year with an EP of pleasingly dusty deep house, Mor Elian transfers to Jamie Russell's Hypercolour label. While "Drum Vortex" contains nods to these deep house roots - most notably some dreamy, stretched-out chords - it draws greater influence from the percussive world of techno, and the clandestine creepiness of the best L.I.E.S releases. Joey Anderson tips a nod to classic Detroit techno on his sparkling remix, while Markus Suckut drags the track through the dark room at Berghain, backwards. The pulsating, acid-flecked bonus cut "Basma" completes a solid package.
