The brainchild of respected Japanese DJ Yoku, A Hundred Birds is an ambitious live collective, performing across Japan since 1996. Already a popular festival orchestra, the group got a taste of international success in the year 2000 when overseas debut "Batonga" was released on Francois Kevorkian¡¦s Wave Music. Fronted by Yoku, who acts as conductor at live shows and keeps the set running continuously like a DJ mix, the band perform an engaging mixture of covers and original material. DISCOvery is a joyful collection of extended cover versions based on the definitive ¡¥club mixes¡¦ of the 70¡¦s and 80¡¦s, characterized by sublime horn and string arrangements, virtuoso musicianship and a tangible sense of fun.
