Mateusz Franczak, known from bands such as Daktari and HOW HOW recorded his solo debut album, titled „long story short” (released by too many fireworks records). Recordings were made in different locations in Poland from April 2014 through June 2015. The substance of the album are improvised songs, interspersed with instrumental tracks. Changing of the seasons and the fact that recordings were made in a home settings, gave the songs very intimate, personal and at the same time raw character. Track titles refer to various activities characterized emotionally which were expressed musically in a very original way.
One of the assumptions was an attempt to observe creative process itself, to experiment, search for the appropriate means of expression and to let slips or mistakes happen, which very often represent a quality and value in itself. The album was mixed by The Norman Conquest [TNC], a producer and recording engineer specializing in esoteric music at the intersections of experimental, rock, metal, avant-garde & drone, known for his work with Barn Owl, Grouper, Gregg Kowalsky, Ellen Fullman or Blixa Bargeld (Einstürzende Neubauten). Mastering was made by Marcin Bocinski, known for his work with Eugeniusz Rudnik, Jacaszek or Alameda 5.
