After proving his stylish, dark-wave synth credentials via a self-released cassette and a lone 12" EP, HoRD delivers a debut album of stunning iciness for Vercetti Technicolor and Anton Maiovvi's Giallo Disco stable. Seemingly created utilizing a raft of vintage synthesizers and drum machines, Focus On Light effortlessly joins the dots between atmospheric, Gothic synth-pop, classic Giallo soundtrack fare, and the more macabre end of Italo-disco. There's an excellent balance between instrumental and vocal fare, though it's the latter material - reminiscent of original '80s synth-pop from the likes of Visage, OMD and Depeche Mode - that hits home hardest.
