The Dance Mania reissue series continues with Parris Mitchell's 1994 gem Butter Fly, whose title track apparently featured un-credited vocals from Chicago acid legend Adonis. That title track is split into two versions on the A-side; the pulsating, bass-heavy "Part One" (a deep house head's take on ghetto-house), and the sparser, more musically varied "Part 2". The flipside "Spanish Fly" version appears to deliver an extra-hypnotic interpretation that pushes the brilliant bassline to the fore, while the concluding "House Fly" aims to guarantee wild dancefloor via the use of nagging, synthesized sax stabs and fizzing electronic effects. Predictably, it works a treat.
